IBC 2010: sondor to present ALTRA SD/HD cost-effective Datacine updated with RGB light-source and improved image sensor.Zollikon, Switzerland Sondor will showcase a complete telecine suite for cost-effective general archive release work at this years IBC. The sondor A L T R A 16/35mm SD/HD real-time film transfer machine in combination with the OCEAN controller is easy to operate and ideal for file based and tape based workflows. O C E A N, a flexible controller designed by Marquise Technologies directly controls the A L T R A film transport and image sensor, providing one light, best light and scene by scene transfers with automatic or manual scene detection. O C E A N provides various file formats such as DPX, TARGA or TIFF as well as SDI output (single HD stream and a secondary SD down converted for off line purposes). It also has conforming capabilities for more versatility (EDL or Final Cut Pro XML). Being part of a complete range of finishing solutions, O C E A N is expandable with comprehensive advanced grading and restoration tools. Customers have the choice of adding controller panels from Tangent Devices. "This is a very powerful package at a very attractive price" says Sondor's managing director Willy Hungerbuehler. The A L T R A offers full HD 1920x1080p resolution in a real-time transfer process provided as HD-SDI signal. The output from the SR and Dolby Digital reader connects directly to the Cinema Processor. Installed in a central machine room, the A L T R A can serve multiple dubbing or screening rooms for virtual 35mm projection and traditional film-to-tape or film-to-disk transfers. ------------- Great news also for owners of Thomson SPIRIT 2K/4K Telecines as sondor is presenting its Spirit Soundhouse, a modular plug-in type soundtrack reader.
