Application
The sondor Nova Telecine is designed for the use as production telecine for dailies, archive retrieval, work copies etc. offering high image quality at the fraction of the cost of a full scale telecine. The transfer is in realtime, frame by frame, at 24 fps as well as 25 fps for PAL or applying 3/2 pull-down with frame-pulse output for NTSC.
The Nova Telecine can handle film shrinkage of up to 1.6%.
Image Transfer
The standard definition version relies on the JVC KY-F560 E CCD head for a sharp and crisp image. It features a 1/2” 3CCD chip providing 850 lines of horizontal resolution and outputs composite and SDI video signals. Analogue component signal is offered through an optional converter. On request, a Panasonic 2/3" head is available as well.
The HD version features the Hitachi DH-K31 2K resolution 2/3" CCD head wtih HD-SDI outputs, providing highest quality images.

Light Source
Adjustabale 12V / 50 W halogen light source combined with ND filters ranging from ND2 to ND 8 to cover a wide density range.
Formats
The basic camera-adaptor allows the transfer of all 35mm flat formats, i.e. 1.37:1, 1.66:1, 1.85:1 except Super 35. Additions are required for Cinemascope, Super 35, 16mm and Super 16.
Audio
Audio options include 35mm and 16mm red LED reverse-scan optical readers with line pre-amplifiers, a Dolby Digital reader and a DTS timecode reader.
For archival transfer applications, there are also white-light optical readers available and all optical readers may be equipped with front-side adjusters for lateral offset compensation and azimouth control.
Keycode
Keycode reader and processors from Aaton or Evertz are available on request.
