SAVE THE ORIGINAL FILM AND SOUND HERITAGE !

The so-called VINEGAR SYNDROME is destroying  old unique original films and soundtracks on films and magnetic films. Archives are ultimately loosing their treasures. A light acid smell calls for immediate action, i.e. transfer of the original onto a new carrier.

In cooperation with the Burbank CHACE company sondor has developped the equipments to reproduce in original quality magnetic and optical soundtracks on sprocketed media  16mm,  17.5mm and 35mm.
As long as the magnetic coating or the film emulsion has not parted from the base, perfect copies of the original will be possible,  at real speed or even double speed,   from  heavily shrunken (up to 4%!) and warped films or magnetic films.

SONDOR "CHACE" machines presently are in use with

  • Chace Productions, Burbank
  • Screensound Australia, Canberra (National Film and Sound Archive Australia)
  • Warner Brothers, Hollywood
  • R T E Television, Dublin
  • INA Institut National de l'Audiovisuel, Paris
  • TOBIS, Lisbon
  • Cinemateca Portuguesa, Lisbon
  • Shaw Brothers, Hong Kong
  • Universal, Hollywood
  • AIATSIS, Canberra
  • Films du Soleil, Marseille
  • Canadian Broadcasting Corporation CBC

For restoring optical soundtracks directly from the sound negative we are cooperating with Laser Interface for the integration of their SoundDirect laser-scan reader enabling electronic adjustment for image spread distortion and noise eliminatiing, both during a single real-time pass.

The CHACE range of products fits onto our oma e and oma s film drives.
